Day Twenty ... Planning my Day

I've read about scripting your day, putting forth positive mental energy before you do anything in order to set an intention for a positive outcome. Waking up and declaring "Today is going to be a great day", instead of waking up and saying "Ugh, Monday again, I hate Mondays ..." Both set up very different expectations for the day, and both will most likely give me exactly what I ask for.

The script isn't my only strategy though, I follow it up by looking all around me and appreciating what I see. There is so much to appreciate!

I really am so fortunate to live in Las Vegas. Every day I take a moment to truly appreciate the amazing natural beauty of the mountains, the panoramic vista laid out for as far as my eyes can see. On the heels of that I realize how fortunate I am that I can see, because there are many people who cannot.

My drive to work is especially gorgeous, as I drive west on Alexander I come up over this little hill and I can literally see for miles to the mountains of Red Rock. I can see all the colors of Red Rock (aptly named, obviously), the pink looking terracotta rooftops of Summerlin and the gorgeous sky, sometimes decorated with clouds and sometimes as pristine as can be.

This is my view from the parking lot at work:

This is my view of the sky just after the sun sets from the backyard:

Surrounded by beauty,

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered; forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives: Be kind anyway. What you spend years creating others could destroy overnight: Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it may never be enough: Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God: it was never between you and them anyway.
